Fire, Safety & Security

Our hotel is equipped with a state-of-the art fire protection system, hard-wired smoke detectors and an automatic sprinkler system. In the event of an emergency, knowing what to do and where to go can make the difference between life and death. If you feel you may need special assistance during an emergency situation, please notify our front desk staff upon check-in by dialing “0”.

Please take a few minutes to familiarize yourself with the information provided. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact us.

Upon Check-In

  1. Locate the emergency exits on your floor. On each guest floor, there is one exit at the end of each hallway. Locate the two exits nearest your room. Walk to each exit to help you remember its location.
  2. Count the doors between your room and the exit. This helps you to remember the distance and location of exits and may also help if you have to find an exit in smoke or in the dark.
  3. Locate the nearest fire extinguisher and fire alarms.
  4. Find the “off-switch” on your air conditioner. In the event of a fire, shutting off the air conditioning system can prevent smoke from being drawn into your room.
  5. Take note of the emergency exit diagram behind your guest room door. Review the map to familiarize yourself with the floor plan.

If You Discover a Fire

  1. Pull fire alarm located closest to your current area.
  2. Close doors. If possible, close all doors around the fire area to keep it from spreading. Place a wet towel at the base of your door to prevent smoke from entering your room.
  3. Report the fire. Dial “0” and tell the hotel operator your name and room number.
  4. Fight only small fires. Use the fire extinguisher located in each guest hallway to put out small fires.
  5. Flee larger fires. If the fire is large, do not take unnecessary risks. Exit the building through the fire exists.
  6. Stay calm. Don’t panic. Relax and think clearly.

If You Hear an Alarm or in the Event of an Evacuation

  1. Test doors for heat before opening them. Using the back of your hand, test the door to the hallway for heat.
  2. If the door to the hallway is cool, open it carefully, looking for smoke. Slam it quickly if there is a thick smoke outside and stay in your room.
  3. If the hallway contains little or no smoke, calmly proceed to the nearest exit. Please take your room key card with you.
  4. Feel the walls of the corridor while exiting. While moving to the exit, keep close to the wall and low to the floor if it is dark and smoky. The air is cooler, cleaner and clearer near the floor. Remember the number of your room. If the stairwell is safe, exit the building.
  5. Exit with caution. Test the exit door for heat before opening it. Look for thick smoke in the stairwell. If there is thick smoke, try another exit or return to your room. If the stairwell is safe, exit the building.
  6. Avoid elevators. In case of fires, NEVER use the elevator to evacuate.

Emergency Exit Destinations

Emergency exits should be used for evacuation only. Once you are in the stairwell, calmly proceed to the ground level exit. When you reach the emergency corridors, follow the emergency exit posted in the corridor. If power fails, don’t panic. Keep moving toward the ground level exit signs. Power will be returned within 10 seconds.

If Your Exit Is Blocked

  1. Try the other exits. If the stairwell is filled with smoke, try the exits at the end of the other hallways.
  2. Go back to your room. If all exit stairwells are filled with smoke, return to your room. It is the safest place for you.
  3. Stay calm. Don’t panic. Relax and think clearly.

If You Cannot Leave Your Room

  1. Stay calm. Don’t panic. Relax and think clearly.
  2. Stay there. Your room is the safest place to be.
  3. Turn off your air conditioner to prevent smoke from entering through the space under the door.
  4. Stuff a wet cloth under the door. Wet towels, sheets or blankets can keep smoke from entering through the space under your door.
  5. Stuff air vents with a wet cloth. The wet cloth will keep smoke from entering the room.
  6. Fill your bathtub. Keep plenty of water in the tub and use the wastebaskets to carry water when necessary. Re-moisten wet clothes that are keeping the smoke out.
  7. Dial the operator. Dial “0” for the hotel operator and report your name and location.

  1. Do not smoke in your room. The hotel restricts smoking in all guest accommodations.
  2. Remove appliance plugs from electrical outlets when not in use.
  3. Report electrical hazards or malfunctions to the Hotel operator.
